Fuel & Emissions
WHAT ARE VEHICLE EMISSIONS?
Most cars, pickup trucks, minivans, and SUVs are powered by gasoline or diesel engines and emit various air pollutants, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and smog. These greenhouse gas emissions trap additional heat from the sun in the Earth's atmosphere, which contributes to global warming. To reduce carbon emissions, the Canadian government has strict engine emission regulations that companies must follow, including by equipping their vehicles with emission control technologies.
To reduce carbon emissions, you should regularly service your vehicle by:
- Changing the oil
- Keeping your tires properly inflated
- Following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule
- Using the recommended octane fuel grade
- Repairing any leaks in your exhaust system
WHAT IS DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF)?
Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is made from deionized water and a very pure form of urea, making it non-hazardous, non-toxic, and non-flammable. This fluid helps reduce emissions and air pollution from your diesel engine. Modern vehicles are equipped with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems that reduce the amount of unburnt fuel in exhaust gases. The DEF is sent into the exhaust system of your diesel vehicle to neutralize these polluting molecules and transform them into nitrogen and water. These two transformations are safe for the environment and ozone.
With Air1 diesel exhaust fluid (also marketed as AdBlue) or Valvoline Premium Blue, you can considerably reduce the atmospheric pollution caused by your car, pickup truck, or SUV.
We also have all the accessories you need to refill and maintain your vehicle's selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, such as replacement filler caps for your DEF tank, long neck funnels for easy filling and avoiding spills, and more.

WHAT DOES A FUEL TREATMENT DO?
There are several advantages to cleaning your fuel system:
- Increased power and performance
- Improved fuel economy and gas mileage
- Fewer carbon emissions
- Easier starting
When used regularly, fuel system cleaners remove hydrocarbon deposits, sediment, and gum. They can be used to clean every fuel injector, the fuel rail, the EVAP system, the fuel rail pressure sensor, and other fuel system components.
Don't wait until it's too late! Use a fuel system cleaner on your car, pickup truck, minivan, or SUV to keep it on the road for longer. Order now and pick up your products at the NAPA Auto Parts store nearest you.
